Dutch Designers at Paris Fashion Week

After haute-couture shows by Jan Taminiau and Iris van Herpen in Paris, now it is the turn of the prêt-a-porter designers. Among the Dutch to present their latest collections are Viktor&Rolf who chose Studio Job to design their backdrop this season.

The Dutch design duo seemed to have toned down their avant-garde view on fashion as they presented their take on Fall/Winter 2013-’14 fashion during Paris Fashion Week.

Black and white ensembles dominated the catwalk and viewers were treated to an array of ultra-mini skirts and dresses. Viktor&Rolf played around with distressed features incorporating tule and beading, featured heavily on tailored trousers and tops. A hint of the designers’ surrealism was preserved in asymmetrical rushes found on dresses and shoulders.

Following earlier collaborations with Dutch-Belgium duo Studio Job in 2010, a black-and-white print of wilted sunflowers and wooden floorboards formed the backdrop for the equally monochrome clothing collection.
In other Paris Fashion Week news, Italian fashion house Valentino presented a Dutch-inspired collection:

“The white collars and sublime colors of Vermeer's masterpiece 'The Girl with the Pearl Earring' inspired the mood for Valentino's ready-to-wear show at Paris Fashion Week.Using the Flemish masters as a starting point for the Autumn/Winter 13/14 collection, designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli delivered a more varied silhouette than last season with white Flemish-style collar and frequent full-length sleeves.'It's for different women for different moments,' said Piccioli of the collection from the Italian fashion house which featured Dutch floral patterns, rich reds and royal blues,” reports the Daily Mail.
