Cologne Design Week preview

The design season for 2009 is about to kick off with the first major international design event happening in Cologne next week.

Imm Cologne and Cologne Design Week signal the beginning of this year's major international design events.

The major trade fair will be based at the fairgrounds with other events scattered throughout the city as part of the design festival Passagen. Here's our picks of Dutch exhibitors and events for the week:

Companies exhibiting include Freedom of Creation, Droog, Royal Mosa, Bloom Holland, Fatboy.
The group stand from Unseen Product includes work from Martijn Homan, Manon de Bruin, Janske Megens, Celia Suzanne Sluijter, Abke Geels, Christel Hofmans, Chris Slutter and Ferry Meewisse.
Sander Bokkinga, Arthur Rottier, and Annette V. Huizing can be seen on the Designspotter group exhibition.
Finalists in the d3 design contest include Ontwerpduo and Pepe Heykoop.

Design Post exhibitors include Brand van Egmond, Artifort and Montis.

Surface. An exhibition of work from Design Academy Eindhoven graduates including Cris Bartels, Nacho Carbonell, Julien Carretero, Lonneke Gordijn, Anna Ter Haar, Veronique Lorne, Bas van Raay and Hans Tan.

The Dutch Corner presents Jorre van Ast with demountable tables, Dennis & Bert with a foam-pressed line, David Lindberg with epoxy dividing walls, Studio Niels & Sven with inside/outside furniture, Sloom & Slordig with witty designs and Carolijn Slottjes with a flexible cabinet. Exhibition designed by Melle Hammer, curated by Kitty van Roekel.

Designer's Gallery presents a solo exhibition of Satyendra Pakhalé entitled OriginS.
