WDF 2012 builds on the success of last year’s event when the focus was ‘Care’. This year we move from micro to macro and look at the creation of local living communities and economies from the ground up.

We inquire how social innovation enables that to happen. In response to three themes: co-creation, learning and ignition, social entrepreneurs will describe the ‘micro revolutions in daily life’ they are passionate about. Then in short and sharp panels, again led by John Thackara, entrepreneurs and strategists will explore where design and designers can make a difference.

The main benefits of participation in WDF 2012 will be: a shared perception of new dynamics and opportunities; a good idea of how to make them happen and spread; and new connections with motivated and effective people. There will be ample time for delegates to participate in discussion; as always, the opportunity to network with new contacts will be an important part of the day. At the end of WDF the Dutch Design Week starts, so interesting things are easy to combine here.
