End date: 30-09-2012
Country: The Netherlands
City: Rotterdam

The influence of work clothing in fashion is undeniable. Take the ever present jeans for instance, which took to the streets and catwalks via the Californian mines.

The exhibition Werkstijl looks at the relationship between work clothing and fashion, in which function becomes fashion.

Naturally the exhibition is at Museum Rotterdam as people say about this working city that shirts have rolled-up sleeves even in the shops. Guest curator Monique van Heist, Rotterdam's hardest working fashion designer, presents authentic, no-nonsense clothing and inspired creations from the world of fashion at the Schielandshuis.

Featured designers include Maison Martin Margiela, Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, Bless and Walter van Beirendonck, G+N, Bas Kosters, Nada van Dalen, Martine Viergever and Monique Van Heist, Denham the Jeanmaker, Blue Blood Brand, Levi´s © Vintage Collection and Roy Denim.
