This week in SMALL TALK: the nominees just keep coming, with the finalists of the 2010 Brit Insurance Design Awards and Dutch Infographics awards announced and citizenM is voted Trendiest Hotel by Tripadvisor travel website.

Brit Insurance Design Awards
The nominees of the 2010 Brit Insurance Design Awards have been announced. Dutch nominees include:

Antony Gormley will chair the high profile jury which includes designer Tom Dixon, editor of Icon magazine Justin McGuirk, graphic designer Morag Myerscough, style editor of Grazia Magazine Paula Reed and editor of Wired magazine David Rowan.

Citizen M voted Trendiest Hotel by Tripadvisor
According to travel website Tripadvisor, citizenM Amsterdam City has been voted 'Trendiest Hotel' as part of the eighth annual "Travellers' Choice" competition which is the largest edition to date. CitizenM is the first hotel to be awarded the prize in this new category. These awards are based on the real reviews, ratings and opinions from travellers who frequent the Tripadvisor website.

Nominees Infographics prize
Five nominees have been chosen for the annual Infographics prize 2010. The prize award is a joint initiative of the Dutch Association of Journalists and (NVJ) the Association of Dutch Designers (BNO). In the category 'editorial infographic' three projects were nominated: Erik van Gameren for 'Europa stemt' (internet NRC), Frédérik Ruys for 'Hoe de kredietcrisis de beurs besmette' (Het Financieele Dagblad) and Karin Schwandt and Jeroen van Ingen for 'Hemwegcentrale NUON' (Nuon). In the 'non editorial' category, the two shortlisted projects are: 'Wat als de hele wereldbevolking in één stad zou wonen met de stedelijke dichtheid van Amsterdam' from XML Architecture Research Urbanism and 'Wat is een petitie?', a digital infographic designed by in60seconds and Your Neighbours. For this fifth edition, the winners will receive a prize of €2,500EUR.
