Newsletter #275

Newsletter #275

In our last newsletter before Christmas we look at the complex issue of design criticism. Designers don't like criticism - they claim is harms their ability to be commercial and as more and more print journals collapse under the weight of the Internet is has become increasingly hard to find an avenue for design debate with an intellect core. Design is too often little more then what is usually referred to as design porn. Also this week Het Nieuwe Instituut, Stichting DOEN and the Materiaalfonds announced a new incarnation for the DOEN | Materiaalfonds. It will now be known as the New Material Award. Marlies Bloemendaal brings the concept of flexible workspace to Mumbai, India with her Ministry of New and we learn about the latest collaboration between Rotterdam entrepreneur Margreeth Olsthoorn and students of the Willem de Kooning Academie.

For now Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a fabulous new year to all our readers!
