Newsletter #271

This week on Design.nl we visit Maastricht, home of The Great Indoors Awards where i29 prove that third time is extremely lucky. We also look in on a number of student projects presented centred around this year's theme The Nature of Things. A new publication, Design Transitions discusses how design is changing into a broader-reaching discipline. What's imperative for this transition to be smooth and effective is better communication. We take a look at Harry, a new project that is raising awareness for sustainable clothing through a simple message: Find Your Tune, look at a fascinating new series of carpets by Roosmarijn Pallandt who collaborate with local craftspeople across the planet to translate Google Earth images into 3D objects, and talk to a number of Dutch participants in this year's Toegepast which celebrates its 18th birthday with the theme It's all in the air.
