Newsletter #269

This week on Design.nl we discuss a big trend spotted during Dutch Design Week – crowdfunding – and play a round of spot the difference. We bumped into an inspiring Daan Roosegaarde during Dutch Design Week where he talked about the importance of properly connecting science and design at an educational level. According to design studio Today Designers ink can come from nature and what better place to find it than in the sea? Their latest project features tall tales printed in squid ink. Also this week Irma Boom will sit on the jury of the new Rijksstudio competition that calls on designers to hack the museum's own collection and we take part in Integrated 2013 where speakers included Christo and Dutch/Belgian duo Unfold.

During Dutch Design Week it became apparent that some designers are shying away from large producers and taking matters into their own hands. Crowdfunding platforms are popping up like mushrooms.
