Newsletter #215

Newsletter #215

This month's retirement of Gijs Bakker from the Design Academy Eindhoven has been overshadowed by the rift between management and the Master's department heads.  This week we get a chance to talk to many of Bakker's former colleagues and students about the extraordinary contribution he made to design education.  Li Edelkoort, former head of the DAE, has also published an open letter voicing her fury at the whole DAE situation. Also on Design.nl, we bring you the best of this year's Lichting during Amsterdam Fashion Week, see how your glaswear could become sustainable a energy source courtesy of Marjan van Aubel and congratulate Tjeerd Veenhoven on winning the Green Design Competition for his PalmLeather sandals. Last but not least for our Dutch readers, don't forget to check out the Elle Decoration/Design.nl promotion in this newsletter. This will be our last newsletter before we go on a (short) summer break. We wish you lots of sun, fun and a design and fashion-filled holiday!
