Marlies Dekkers’ Big Night in Paris
Show me Love
Marlies Dekkers celebrated her first catwalk event at Paris Fashion Week with a special themed show entitled A True Love Story. Dedicated to this capital of love, the designer’s story revolved around a palette of three colours; white for first love and innocence, red for passion and black for eroticism. A catwalk backdrop of a formal French garden set the scene for a selection of lingerie pieces from the designer’s upcoming spring/summer 2009 collection.
Top models, such as Noémie Lenoir, Lydia Hearst and May Andersen appeared in dramatic couture pieces designed in white, black or red. Marlies Dekkers made a surprise appearance herself in the finale, dressed in a black bridal gown. At the show, front-row celebrity guests from the world of fashion, music and media, helped Marlies Dekkers to celebrate the 15th anniversary of her brand.
This year, the designer has also enjoyed creating a retrospective exhibition based around her work at the Rotterdam Kunsthal, as well as opening four new stores – Berlin, Cologne, Utrecht and Den Haag. The designer’s next store opening is in New York in late October at the famous Plaza Hotel next to Fifth Avenue and Central Park.
