Dilmos Milano

Dilmos Milano was one of many locations during design week who chose to include Dutch design in their presentation. Kiki van Eijk, Joost van Bleiswijk and Studio Formafantasma were amongst them.

Upstairs at Dilmos, in the Brera area of Milan, Ron Gilad exhibited his "IX Mirrors", a collection of surreal and slightly bizarre mirrors.

But it was downstairs in the gallery where visitors could take a look at the some of the Dutch designs commissioned by Dilmos.
On such piece was the Low Chair Domestica by Studio Formafantasma - an investigation of rural craft and its archetypes. "The reference is to the Gerla basket, a container usually used by farmers to collect harvested cereals and transported as a bag-pack," say the duo on their website.

Displayed earlier during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, Kiki van Eijk's "DRINK! EAT! FUN! REST! THINK! DREAM! LOVE!" and Joost van Bleiswijk's vessels were also on show. Made from coloured Murano glass, the iconographic objects of van Eijk each symbolize a story whereas Van Bleiswijk's more abstract forms are made up of stacked objects.

Kranen/Gille presented their latest body of work: Islands. The shapes of the various objects (a desk, light and table) are partly formed by nature and partly by industry.
